Active PK Ingredients
Time to look at the ingredients and see what they can do. The product contains:
- Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Leaf Extract (ActivAMP) 450 mg: This is also called Jiaogulan or Southern Ginseng. It may help treat obesity1.
- Quercetin Dihydrate 100 mg: Scientific research has shown Quercetin increases human endurance through improved exercise capacity. The effect is however not very significant with only a 2% improvement2.
- Berberine 100 mg: Has been used in Chinese medicine for many years to treat a number of ailments. It has many health benefits including treating diabetes and helping weight loss3.
The capsules contain no caffeine, dairy or synthetic additives.
They are suitable for vegetarians.
How Does Active PK Work?
Time for a bit of science. The company claims that this product works by activating an enzyme in cells in your body called AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Berberine is one ingredient that is able to do this.
AMPK is sometimes referred to as a “metabolic master switch”.
It is found in the cells in areas of the body including the brain, muscle, kidney, heart and liver. This enzyme plays a role in new treatments for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and the metabolic syndrome.
Berberine may stop the growth of fat cells.
It is worth noting that AMPK can also be activated by exercise. This study also suggests that more research is required as to exactly how AMPK is activated.
ActivAmp is a proprietary brand of Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Leaf Extract from Gencor. This may also activate AMPK.
The company state that:
AMPK is the enzyme that tells your body to stop storing fat and start converting it into energy. This can lead to less fatigue, fewer cravings, more energy, and a slimmer waistline – which according to Harvard Medical School is one of the most effective paths to a longer life.
It appears some of the ingredients in this product may promote weight loss. However there is no clinical trial as to the efficacy of the product.
There is also no linked reference to the quoted study at Harvard Medical School.

I have been taking this product for 3 months exactly as directed. I e en started doing intervals of walking, speed walking and hills 4 times a week for 90 minutes… modifying my sugar and carbs. I have seen no results. I bought the 3 pack and then added 6 more for some deal. I am now a week passd the 90 day mark, so I am stuck with several hundred dollars worth of nothing. I am may e 25lbs overweight and am a busy person. Now I am just a disappointed busy person. Ugh!

I just finished the last of my 3 months daily ACTIVE-PK supplement and discovered no benefit whatsoever. I work out on my Peloton daily and eat a very healthy diet but have developed belly fat in my 60s. I was hoping that this product would stand up to its claims but sadly that is not the case.
I started my first bottle on 4/18/19. I take Norco 10/325 (had back fusion in 2010). I take Plavix (have 2 stents in legs). Lipitor for high chlosterol and Klonopin for essential tremors. Hi, I’m into my 3rd month. Have remained the same weight, as I did 4 months ago. Still no energy or less fog brain. I’ve noticed my belly in the last week being more flabby, not hard like it was. They do suppress my appetite, on a good day I get 300 to 500 calories a day. Hope they are finally starting to work.
You are not eating enough calories- your body thinks it’s starving and will store more fat! I did the same thing, stopped eating and gained almost 100 pounds! Try eating 6 small snacks a day and more protein- so in the morning have a protein shake made with almond milk or water, then have a small fish of either fruit or vegetables then have a sandwich or something a bit more substantial at lunch then again have fruit or veggies or nuts or all three then supper and then finally a snack of some sort before bed. Drink at least 3 L of water a day. Get a 2L jug and drink it make it a goal to finish that and work your way up. Good luck!
I have MS. Belly fat/weight loss would be a bonus but I decided to try this supplement for more energy and less brain fog. I bloated within an hour of taking it. I’m also reading it may not be good for autoimmune diseases. Anyone else bloating or reading autoimmune being a Con?

I am a diabetic. I was on regular injections of short acting insulin with meals and long acting insulin injections in the morning and before bed time. During my first bottle of Active PK I started having low glucose episodes at night. I have stopped the night time long acting injections and reduced the amounts of both types when I do inject. My glucose level have been showing great reductions. I have the best control I have ever experienced. I have not lost weight and have bloating. On my second bottle and now have better control without Metformin. Lower insulin costs are a blessing. The cost of Active PK is off set my my reduced insulin costs.

Wow, everyone seems to be in an uproar. When I first purchased this product I didn’t buy it for losing weight. The only thing it said about losing weight was that that had mail from people claiming they lost weight on the product but it never claims to be a weight loss product at all. All it says is that it curbs your fat tummy.
I bought this for intestine health and a healthy feeling , more energy.

I’ve been taking the PK Active for 6 weeks. I’ve lost 22 lbs and 3.5 inches off my waist! I’ve noticed that my cellulite on my legs has gotten about 40% better and my waist is shrinking! Larry, I believe if you research the ingredients of the product you will see that it has properties helpful to our bodily systems. I read previous in comments that lifestyle changes were made, and I believe that is so important. We have to quit believing “a pill for an ill”.
